Container Program - Detailed Process Description

Collect equipment and supplies from US donors. Sort, organize and pack items for transport. Arrange transport of donations in containers, ground transport, or by air. Distribute donations to receiving facilities.

    • US process:
      • Network for collecting supplies and equipment from:
        • Organizations (Rotary Clubs, other NPO’s)
        • Health Care systems/providers/associations
        • Fire/EMS providers/individuals/associations
        • Companies/Manufacturers
        • Individuals (physicians/nurses)
      • Transportation of donations to US warehouse by:
        • Trucking companies
        • Individuals
        • Donors
      • Centralized warehouse space for:
        • Collection
        • Sorting
        • Organizing
        • Packing
      • Office Support with:
        • Computer
        • General office supplies
      • Volunteers are:

  • Donations are inventoried and prepared on pallets for loading into containers, priority items are sent by air or ground. Manifests are shared with team in Guatemala at time of shipment.

  • Description of process of soliciting donations:
    • Requests need to include the following information:
      • Description of mission, population, and situation of organization, hospital or location
      • Description of services offered
      • Specific list of needs
      • Contact person
    • Priority will be given to
      • Areas in with greatest need/poverty/lack of resources
      • Locations that solicit first
      • Locations that have history of complete compliance
    • General consideration will be given to:
      • NPO’s, missions & other organizations
      • Hospitals
      • Clinics
      • Health promoters
      • EMS Providers
  • Special notes:
    • Target donations: Specific items may be located in the US and “tagged” immediately for a specific location requesting such.
    • In-country company representation: (accessories/chemicals) Only equipment with service and support available in area will be accepted.
    • Buying equipment & supplies to make complete donations: If partial donations are obtained the options to purchase and provide a complete set will be given to the beneficiary.
    • Consumable replenishment: Consideration will be given to maintain a constant stock of supplies.
    • Emergency Preparedness: Emergency situation like earthquakes, hurricanes, and floods.
  • Rules:
    • Donations are to be given to locations/institutions, not private persons
    • Donations are to be entered into the master inventory
    • Locations will allow tours for periodical checks on the donations and use
    • Donations are not to be sold
    • Letter of receipt of donations
    • Transport of donations from warehouse in Guatemala
