The goal is to provide
general training and
instruction on basic procedures and
equipment use to health care providers in
Guatemala.
Allowing the program to grow
expanding into neighboring countries.
There is a need to
provide education in basic health care
procedures and preventative care themes in
rural communities of Central American
countries.
This program reaches undeveloped
areas with populations of millions of
people.
The plan is to provide
course such as:
- Emergency
Incident Prevention
- Cardio-Pulmonary
Resuscitation
- First
responder basic, intermediate, and
advanced
- Special
themes that are equipment and
situational focused
(ex:
hygiene, births, AED training)
to participants that
include native firefighters, first
responders, health promoters, midwives,
nurses, technicians, and physicians.
Courses are offered at workable times
and in convenient community locations to
increase accessibility for participants.
The community responsibility for
hosting (if situation allows) is to provide
transportation, room and board, and
classroom logistics.
The instructors of
SERVICA gift their services including
theoretical instruction, the sharing of
their practical skills, and time.
They also participate as consultants
in the situational evaluation of the area.
The MESSAGE Program
provides supervision of program, material
equipment and supply resources, and monetary
support. The director’s
responsibilities are to coordinate the
resources necessary to support these efforts
as well as provide general oversight of the
program and its volunteers in the US and
Central America.
This program is about
health care education to serve
socio-economically disadvantaged persons.
These courses are the building blocks
for implementing the chain of survival and
early recognition and response procedures.
This in conjunction with the material
donation program is an effective way to
build partnerships with neighboring American
countries.
